THE GREEN SCREAM MISSION


點．線．面
每一個你就像在這個世界上的一個小點，當你我這個小點開始行動，我們就會連成一線；當更多的你我串連努力，這些線就能接成一個面；
讓我們一起從"點"出發，開始你我的綠色行動，成就一個美麗的綠色吶喊的目標！

「春 天吶喊」應當要為減碳運動做更多呼籲……因為每年都有成千上萬的人們, 從台灣各地開著車子, 還有從海外搭機前來參與這個台灣最大的音樂祭. 為了提供活動足夠的電力我們得使用六台柴油發電機……但我們不希望「春天吶喊」的美好有所負累, 我們真的想要減少這些所謂「碳足跡」的產生, 這些我們大家每年都因為辦活動而產生的「碳足跡」。然而我們相信, 就是因為這樣的朝聖, 讓我們可以從「春天吶喊」開始責無旁貸地盡最大努力, 去做到將人們對這個環境所造成的影響減至最低.

 

【說明】碳足跡或譯碳足印 (carbon footprint)，蓋指每個人、家庭或每家公司日常釋放的溫室氣體數量（以二氧化碳即CO2的影響為單位），用以衡量人類活動對環境的影響。

以下是我們今年己經開始規劃進行的內容，請和我們一起讓今年的春天吶喊更加環保：
-我們正在開創一個全新且令人興奮的方式，以便可以減低活動中各式傳單，印刷品及節目表被丟棄後造成的垃圾問題 (墾丁大街如果都是宣傳品的垃圾實在是不太雅觀吧.)
-我們正在露營區的淋浴間屋頂上，計劃設置太陽能熱水系統，以便能更節電的提供熱水淋浴服務
-今年參與春天吶喊的攤位，都被告知並鼓勵要儘可能地思考環保節約的作法．
-資源回收桶將會設置在春天吶喊的活動會場各個角落中，以便大家能更方便的配合回收作業．
-活動會場中也將設置食物殘渣回收站，以便集中回收你我吃剩的食物殘渣以製成農作肥料
-如果你有自備隨身壼，可以到春天吶喊的服務攤位免費裝飲用水
-我們也有和墾丁國家公園管理處一起努力，希望能做更多努力，來減少我們對環境的影響，以及推廣保育節能的觀念，更多資訊請參考墾丁國家公園官方網站：www.ktnp.gov.tw/eng/index.aspx
-請和我們一起遵守"5R"觀念：降低(不必要的消耗)，減少(簡約)，重覆使用，再生，以及再回收
因此這裡我們提供了一些方法, 你可以做到的或是請你盡力試著做看看, 如此一來你就為春天吶喊和這個世界做了一件好事, 謝謝你的幫忙!!!

 以下這些點子是你我都可以做到的，也請大家一起試著來做做看，如果大家真的都做到了，那麼你會知道的，你的參與讓春天吶喊又更加環保了!


請付出更多參與和關注：


- 請帶著你自己的飲水瓶或水壺 (裝水或飲料).
- 減少瓶子的使用量, 活動中的參與者也會提供免費的杯子或容器.
- 請自備餐具如環保筷匙等.
- 在活動中使用可回收處理的容器. 
-「春天吶喊」也很努力地在處理垃圾分類及回收, 請和我們一起! 配合我們一起做垃圾分類, 我們的志工們也都會很樂意的幫忙.
-帶著你自己的帳篷來吧～住在露營區很便宜，又節能，你每天醒來就身在充滿蟲嗚鳥叫的春天吶喊會場裡！（況且晚上的露營區你都不知道有多少樂子～）
-減少紙類的宣傳品和傳單等等，如果真的想看一下，但又不想留著，那就再把它放回去給下一個人看吧．
-請記得千萬不要將你的菸蒂丟在路邊或地上，將它放在口袋裡或丟到垃圾桶
- 我們鼓勵所有活動的參與者使用環保的方式或交通運輸.
-愈少愈好! 這是一個最基本的原則, 我們身為地球的一份子, 請不要浪費或過度消耗地球上的資源.
-用少省多! (節約生活，就能省下更多資源）對我們的生活的這個世界來說，這是一個最好的基本概念和守則
- 儘可能騎自行車, 或和朋友一起搭車(共乘), 或是搭乘大眾交通運輸工具來; 「春天吶喊」也有接駁車, 所以你搭高鐵來也很方便!
- 搭乘「春天吶喊」從墾丁來回的免費接駁公車, 或是租腳踏車來代替租車.
- 如果你真的必須開車來, 希望你可以一起響應共乘運動. 你可以交到更多朋友, 擁有美好回憶, 更可以減低我們大家的「碳足跡」排量, 而且同時也擁有一路上的快樂時光!
- 「春天吶喊」活動中的各項標示或大輸出都儘量被設計成是可回收重覆使用的, 我們甚至會將其回收手工製成活動相關的紀念包包或其他附件, 之後當我們將這些紀念包包販售出去, 也會提撥部份收入捐出給 “WorldBike.org” 計劃.
- 最後希望你可以幫忙宣傳或轉寄這些訊息, 讓大家都可以知道!!



Dot. Line. Form. 

As an individual you are like a dot in the world, put it into action, add movement and you create a line. Together our actions and efforts and lines can form a shape, a green movement, a green scream!


Spring Scream should probably get a carbon makeover... we collectively get 10,000 people to drive their cars all the way to the far reaches of the island and others to fly around the world to participate it what is often called the best music festival in Asia.  We use 6 diesel generators to belch out enough power to run the event. We don't want to compromise the good things about the festival be we do want reduce what is called the "carbon footprint" that we are making on the world annually with transport and consumption. We believe, as a community, that we have a responsibility to maximize all the great things about Spring Scream while minimizing the effect on the environment.  

Here's what we've been working hard on this year to make Spring Scream a bit greener:
-We're innovating an exciting new way to reduce wasteful printed paper, flyers, and band schedules at the event. (Kenting streets littered in advertisements is not a pretty sight.)
-We've installed a solar water heating system on the roof of our campground showers to save electricity and provide hot showers.
-All of the vendors at Spring Scream are encouraged to "think green" as much as possible.
-Recycling bins made from biodegradable materials can be found all around the festival grounds for easy access recycling.
-Compost stations will also be set up to collect your food waste to be composted with worms into to a garden fertilizer.
-Water refill station will be provided at the info to refill your own reusable water bottle.
-We're working together with the Kenting National Park to find even more ways that we can reduce Spring Scream's environmental impact and increase environmental awareness.  Check out their website at http://www.ktnp.gov.tw/eng/index.aspx .
-We follow the 5 R's, Refuse (say no,) Reduce, Reuse, Repair and last but not least Recycle.
We've still got a long way to go, and a major part of greening Spring Scream requires your help.
So here is a list of ideas that you can do or try to do, and if they work for you then you can sleep well knowing that you made Spring Scream just a bit greener!

 

Get involved and be more aware.
-Bring your own reusable water bottle to the event.
-To reduce the number of water bottles used, we're providing free large water jugs at the event for all participants.
-Bring your own reusable utensils, plates, chopsticks, bowls and spoons.
-Use recycling and composting bins at the event.  
- We recycle everything that we can. Pitch in! Separate your trash and drop your recyclable in the bin.  Volunteers are happy to help you learn more about how to get involved. 
-Pitch a tent!  It's cheaper, saves electricity, and you don't have to take transportation to the festival everyday! (Plus the campground is too much fun at night.)
-Refuse paper handouts and fliers... or read them and hand them back if you don't want to keep them.
-Remember to never throw your cigarette butts on the ground, keep an ashtray with you and dump it in the garbage.
-Less is more!  This is a good general strategy and goal for the consumer based world we live in.
-Save water. Using our solar heated water in the campground saves power, but taking a shorter shower saves fresh water too. (Or save water and shower together!)
-We're encouraging all festival participants to use more environmentally friendly forms of transportation to and from the festival.
-Ride your bike, carpool or take public transportation to our events.  Spring Scream has buses and you can always take HSR!
-Take the Spring Scream shuttle buses to and from Kenting or rent a bicycle instead of driving.
-Please CARPOOL if you absolutely have to drive your car down.  You can make friends, memories, and reduce your (and our) carbon footprint and have a good time along the way.
- Event signs have been designed with reuse in mind, and will be recycled into handy and stylish bags and accessories, that when sold, a percentage will go to support the WorldBike.org project.
-Spread the message!  Let everyone know!


 

Our favorite organizations making a difference in the world that we are doing our best to are:

WORLD BIKE

在 這樣的過程中,  我們知道關於「春天吶喊」所產生的「碳足跡」, 大部份是來自於我們大家為了下去墾丁所使用的交通工具. 而這也是維持我們社群強大很重要的一個部份---例如我們需要去看表演, 看藝術秀展, 影展, 到其他人的地方去玩樂作詩...等等. 這樣的流動使得「春天吶喊」之所以為「春天吶喊」, 並不是所有的社群都會有這樣的流動. 如果再放大到一般社會上, 如果沒有這樣的運輸流動, 那麼 ---

  • 孩子們將無法到學校去上課
  • 母親將無法得到適當的醫療保健服務
  • 農夫將無法把產 品送到市場
  • 家庭也無法保存一年四季足夠的食物
而從這些方面看來, 最適合的替代方案就是使用腳踏車. 「春天吶喊」一直熱愛推崇著腳踏車的使用, 同時也幫助來的人們能夠使用到腳踏車.
以Worldbike.org這個非營利機構來說, 他們集結了一些社群去鼓勵人們在腳踏車上放置合適的包包, 以便可以載重, 你可以在網站上找到一些方式去支持他們.
當我們在關注這個環境的同時, 接下來的這些日子, 請持續將這些訊息散播出去, 將這個社群的力量分享出去, 這份愛心將會帶來極大地影響.


As we develop a plan for understanding the carbon footprint of Spring Scream we already know that most of it comes from the engines that bring us all down here.  Getting around is a big part of keeping this community strong – we need to get to gigs, art shows, film festivals, each other’s houses for jam sessions, poetry reading etc..  This mobility is part of what makes Spring Scream Spring Scream.  Not all communities have this mobility however.  There are places in the world where the lack of adequate transportation means –

  • Children can’t go to school
  • Mother’s cannot access health services
  • Farmers cannot get their crops to market
  • Families cannot obtain sufficient food throughout the year

In these places the most affordable form of transportation that can fix these problems is a bicycle.  Spring Scream loves bikes and really loves being able to help supply the right bikes to these communities.  There are several places on site where you will be able to support the work of Worldbike, a non-profit bike company for the developing world, that is celebrating communities by putting people’s bums on the seats of affordable, strong cargo bikes.

While we look after the environment and each other over the next few days and the following year let’s also reach around the world and share the power of this community with other ones that will be hugely affected by the love.
