Spring Scream is a collection of communities –

• A community of musicians.
• A community of artists.
• A community of people who want to celebrate creativity.
• A community of people who want to do all these things together.
• A community of people who want to do all these things together in a beautiful environment.

「春天吶喊」應當要為減碳運動做更多呼籲……因為每年都有成千上萬的人們, 從台灣各地開著車子, 還有從海外搭機前來參與這個台灣最大的音樂祭. 為了提供活動足夠的電力我們得使用六台柴油發電機……但我們不希望「春天吶喊」的美好有所負累, 我們真的想要減少這些所謂「碳足跡」的產生, 這些我們大家每年都因為辦活動而產生的「碳足跡」。

因此這裡我們提供了一些方法, 你可以做到的或是請你盡力試著做看看, 如此一來你就為春天吶喊和這個世界做了一件好事, 謝謝你的幫忙!!!

【說明】碳足跡或譯碳足印 (carbon footprint)，蓋指每個人、家庭或每家公司日常釋放的溫室氣體數量（以二氧化碳即CO2的影響為單位），用以衡量人類活動對環境的影響。

Although these things are required for us to gather as a community they do have a negative environmental impact. 

We believe, as a community, that we have a responsibility to maximize all the great things about Spring Scream while minimizing the effect on the environment.  

This is a new mission for Spring Scream and we plan to get better and better at it every year and to report back to you all the areas where we as a community have made progress and where we are still really challenged to reduce our environmental impact.  This will be a scorecard on what we are all able to achieve together.

We would ask you to be a part of this with us.

- We recycle everything that we can. Pitch in! Separate your trash and drop your recyclable in the bin.  Volunteers are happy to help you learn more about how to get involved.

- 「春天吶喊」也很努力地在處理垃圾分類及回收, 請和我們一起! 配合我們一起做垃圾分類, 我們的志工們也都會很樂意的幫忙.

- 如果你真的必須開車來, 希望你可以一起響應共乘運動. 你可以交到更多朋友, 擁有美好回憶, 更可以減低我們大家的「碳足跡」排量, 而且同時也擁有一路上的快樂時光!

- 「春天吶喊」活動中的各項標示或大輸出都儘量被設計成是可回收重覆使用的, 我們甚至會將其回收手工製成活動相關的紀念包包或其他附件, 之後當我們將這些紀念包包販售出去, 也會提撥部份收入捐出給 “WorldBike.org” 計劃.

As we develop a plan for understanding the carbon footprint of Spring Scream we already know that most of it comes from the engines that bring us all down here.  Getting around is a big part of keeping this community strong – we need to get to gigs, art shows, film festivals, each other’s houses for jam sessions, poetry reading etc..  This mobility is part of what makes Spring Scream Spring Scream.  Not all communities have this mobility however.  There are places in the world where the lack of adequate transportation means –

• Children can’t go to school
• Mother’s cannot access health services
• Farmers cannot get their crops to market
• Families cannot obtain sufficient food throughout the year

在這樣的過程中,  我們知道關於「春天吶喊」所產生的「碳足跡」, 大部份是來自於我們大家為了下去墾丁所使用的交通工具. 而這也是維持我們社群強大很重要的一個部份---例如我們需要去看表演, 看藝術秀展, 影展, 到其他人的地方去玩樂作詩...等等. 這樣的流動使得「春天吶喊」之所以為「春天吶喊」, 並不是所有的社群都會有這樣的流動. 如果再放大到一般社會上, 如果沒有這樣的運輸流動, 那麼 ---

• 孩子們將無法到學校去上課
• 母親將無法得到適當的醫療保健服務
• 農夫將無法把產品送到市場
• 家庭也無法保存一年四季足夠的食物

In these places the most affordable form of transportation that can fix these problems is a bicycle.  Spring Scream loves bikes and really loves being able to help supply the right bikes to these communities.  There are several places on site where you will be able to support the work of Worldbike, a non-profit bike company for the developing world, that is celebrating communities by putting people’s bums on the seats of affordable, strong cargo bikes.
